Fitzroy’s been an important community hub for First Nations Peoples for decades – this history and heritage is explored in the free Yalinguth Augmented Reality Walk, which takes you on a walking tour of the suburb (also known as Ngar-go) and its significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Now some of those recorded stories are being brought to life this Naidoc Week at the Builders Arms, for a special collaboration with the Yalinguth team and local elders.
Grab a beer, head out to the courtyard and find a spot by the firepit to hear acoustic songs performed by Uncle Bart Willoughby, a conversation with Uncle Bobby Nicholls, and yarns from Uncle Gary Murray, Aunty Rieo Ellis and Aunty Denise McGuinness, as they share stories of their people and culture.
From 6.30pm. Entry is free.
