Third Drawer Down is hosting a pop-up exhibition of LA-made Echo Park Pottery at its flagship Fitzroy store.
The art and design company is known for translating artworks into eclectic, useable homewares and gifts, and has previously collaborated with popular artists such as Yayoi Kusama, David Shrigley and Louise Bourgeois.
Echo Park’s wonky one-of-a-kind mugs are designed by Peter Shire, a founding member of the Memphis Group – the influential Italian collective known for its colourful, postmodern approach to design and architecture in the ’80s. Shire sells exclusively to Third Drawer Down in Australia and the exhibition is comprised of blemished beauties collected by the company’s founder Abi Crompton over the years.
Check them out when the exhibition launches on Saturday September 14 from 9.30am to 11am with free coffee and doughnuts courtesy of Coffee Supreme.
The roaster will also be pouring its Mochamaster coffee free till the exhibition ends, so bring along your own mug, wonky or otherwise, and sip while you shop. You might even find an Echo Park piece to take home.
