Winterwild Dark Arts Festival 2022

Fri 12th August, 2022 – Wed 24th August, 2022
Apollo Bay and The Otways
Dance around a beachside bonfire, take a tour through cemeteries in the Otways, feast on fresh Apollo Bay seafood, play a late-night water polo match illuminated by balls of light, and more when the boundary-pushing festival returns.

Get out of Melbourne and among deep rainforest and wild ocean at this year’s Winterwild, the multidisciplinary arts, food and music festival known for its nocturnal fireside performances. But there’s much more to do across two weekend celebrations.

The Otways will be the backdrop to live shows by top local musicians, fresh seafood cooked over flames, unique tours, wellness activities and more events that “embrace the elements instead of hiding from them”.

This year’s music programming includes Amyl and the Sniffers, Emma Donovan and the Putbacks, Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, ORB, Kee’ahn, Leah Senior and Floodlights, while the Wild Feast along Apollo Bay’s foreshore will include fresh crayfish, abalone and scallops cooked over hibachi grills, cauldrons and open flames.

The Dogwatch is an ominous outdoor performance, and local artists are partnering with producers like Aphids Theatre, Long Prawn and Finucane & Smith to bring their works to life.

Plus, there’ll be beachside bonfires, cemetery tours, cold water immersions at sunrise, group somatic sound walks, healing workshops, yoga by the sea and a late-night water polo match in the ocean surrounded by giant stingrays.

The festival is taking place from August 12 to 14 and again from August 26 to 28. Tickets to Winterwild go on sale at 9am on Wednesday June 8.
