The Winter Night Market

Wed 6th June, 2018 – Wed 29th August, 2018
Pasta served from parmesan wheels, and churro bowls are just some of the good reasons to get you outside on Wednesday nights in winter.

The Winter Night Market is back for another year at Queen Victoria Market. Kicking off from early June, over 30 street-food stalls inspired by cuisines from all over the world will open each Wednesday night until the end of August. Last year, the night market received more than 300,000 visitors over its 18-week run.

New to the market this year is Beato te Panigaccio which will be serving up panigacci, a traditional Tuscan flatbread cooked on small clay plates. The crunchy bread is usually served with cheese and salumi.

Crowd favourites such as Churro Kitchen’s churro bowls with hazelnut sauce and vanilla ice-cream are returning, as well as classic cacio e pepe, or cheese-and-pepper, pasta served straight from a parmesan wheel at the That’s Amore cheese stall.

Market goers more inclined towards the culinary delights of the vegetable world can get involved with gooey falafels and wholesome salads at the Just Falafs stall.

Tribal Tastes Whole Foods are serving African-style fish and chips and there’s award-winning paella from Simply Spanish.

Drinks on offer include a selection of beers from a yet-to-be-announced local craft brewery and wines from regional Victoria’s Mitchelton Winery, or you can keep your fingers warm with spiced mulled wine from ReWine or Coldstream Brewery’s hot apple cider.

For those after more than a night off from cooking, the night market will also be home to 50 stalls showcasing local designers and jewellers. 2018 will also see the arrival of new stall, The Book Nook, which will be a dedicated space for all things literary. Market visitors will be able to interact with local authors and purchase both new and pre-loved titles.

To offset the winter chill there will be numerous open fires to huddle around. If dancing is your preferred option to get the blood flowing, local live-music acts and entertainers will perform every week.

For anyone wanting a hassle free experience, the Mystery Degustation runs nightly at 6pm. For $85, six surprise courses from around the market will be delivered directly to your private (and heated) dining area. The dinner lasts 1.5 hours and includes matched wines from Mitchelton Winery. 5pm–10pm.
