William Mackinnon's "The Great Indoors"
Established in 2007 as a non-profit curator-run arts initiative, Utopian Slumps does a great job of representing thirteen Australian and New Zealand artists while keeping a heavy curatorial touch.
Australian born artist, William Mackinnon is revealing his most recent collection at Utopian Slumps opening Saturday 14 April. For being in the middle of his career, Mackinnon has already received international praise with his works gracing the walls of galleries in London and Beijing.
He most recent exhibition, The Great Indoors, showcases his classic cinematic painting style. His landscapes and roadscapes are painted from memory and elaboration from roads he has recently (or less recently) traveled while traversing the Australian countryside.
His simplistic style is optimistic, striking and relatable, as we all remember the joy of road trips and exploration.
The Great Indoors will be at Utopian Slumps from 14 – 28 April 2012.
