Kids can learn how to craft textiles, learn from First Nations storytelling and add their work to an evolving, multi-sensory exhibition at this free workshop series.

Get your children's creative juices flowing during the school holidays with a new free exhibition, installation and workshop series by Convent Kids at Abbotsford Convent.

Weave It! runs for 17 days, and gives your kids the chance to learn about weaving and textile crafting from Gunditjmara and Torres Strait Islander artist Lisa Waup and Melbourne-based textile designer John Brooks.

The pair will host workshops teaching kids and their families about hands-on craft practices and the First Nations traditions behind them, along with related storytelling and lessons on sustainability and recycling.

The children can work on their own or collaborate with the artists and other kids to create their own new weave, then they can add it to the existing multi-sensory exhibition and watch it grow and transform as more work is added. Natural, found and recycled materials are also being built into the work.
