Three Cocktails to Celebrate World Tequila Day at Fonda
Get out your salt: July 24 marks World Tequila Day. In celebration of the auspicious drop wrung from the blue agave plant and beloved the world over, the bartenders at Fonda are putting on a show.
They’ve come up with three new Margaritas using Herradura Plata Tequila, a silver tequila made from 100 percent blue agave, and paired with a range of infused shrubs and syrups, made-in house, to create three distinct drinks available until August 12. Each cocktail has been created with a respectful nod to the classic Margarita, while lending a new twist.
The Basil Margarita pairs Herradura Plata Tequila with lime, house-made basil-infused syrup, grapefruit bitters and basil, while the El Damasco marries Herradura Plata Tequila with pisco, a house-made ginger shrub, lime, aquafaba (a kind of viscous water made from chickpeas) and apricot jam. Finally, the East Meets Mex brings together Herradura Plata Tequila with lime, agave, cucumber, jalapeno, and yuzu soda.
Using the same house-made shrubs and syrups, Fonda have also created a range of infused sodas - ginger and passionfruit; strawberry and basil; and lime and tumeric. Head in-store to try Fonda’s special cocktail and soda concoctions, available until August 12.
