Thor: Love and Thunder Costumes at ACMI
If the words Mjölnir, Stormbreaker and Gorr give you tingles, chances are you’ll be a fan of a new exhibition that’s just touched down inside ACMI.
In the wake of director Taika Waititi’s new Marvel Studios blockbuster, Thor: Love and Thunder, an array of costumes and props are now on view at ACMI, as part of its The Story of the Moving Image exhibition.
Fans of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor – or just the work of award-winning costume designer Mayes Rubeo – are invited to get up close and personal with the very suits, garments and accessories worn and wielded by the movie’s characters, including Thor, Mighty Thor, Valkyrie, Gorr and Rusell Crowe’s Zeus.
They include the weapons Mjölnir and Stormbreaker, the voltage of Zeus’ lightning bolt, and costumes from Valkyrie, the villain Gorr, and the stunning raw silk tunic worn by Thor and embellished with the print of local Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung artist Otis Carey.
