The Social Studio is raising funds for its free fashion programs for Melbourne-based refugees and new migrants. The not-for-profit social enterprise has banded together with some of the city’s favourite consignment stores – Goodbyes, Mutual Muse and Secondo – to stage a two-day preloved fashion sale.
Held during Fashion Revolution Week (FRW) at Collingwood Yards, the Wear It Out sale embodies this year’s FRW theme of “collective action”. Hundreds of pieces have been donated by second-hand fashion shops, as well as Collingwood Yards’ own tenant community of artists, venues and creative organisations.
“Not only is shopping second-hand a great way to be more sustainable, but the money spent at the sale will go directly towards supporting our free work and training programs for the city’s next generation of refugee, asylum seeking and new migrant creatives,” says The Social Studio CEO Dewi Cooke.
