Natural-wine guru (and Rootstock co-creator) Giorgio De Maria and acclaimed chef Pasi Petanen (Cafe Paci) are back from Sydney to stage round two of their raging That’s Amore pop-up.
The first of the pop-ups happened in the midst of last year’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants award celebrations and became the go-to afterparty venue for visiting chefs, writers and industry folk when the official events had given up steam.
Petanen’s menu will feature signatures from last year including sourdough pasta with pecorino, pear and black pepper. Panfried mortadella; vitello tonnato; and radicchio, lardo and gorgonzola will also make an appearance among other wine-favouring party snacks.
To provide the grape juice, Georgio will be opening up his cellar to showcase Italian producers such as Le Coste and Cantina Giardino, and Australian drops from Tom Shobbrook, and Sholto and Louis Broderick.
The whole thing is going down at the tiny Traveller coffee shop in Melbourne's CBD. There were lines out the door last year. Get in quick. No reservations.
