ICYMI: Cali-Mex fast-food chain Taco Bell is opening its first Melbourne store on Chapel Street on Saturday December 7.
The day before, Friday December 6, it’s giving away free meals by way of “the world’s first tram-thru”. Like a drive-thru, but for trams. Curious? Us too. Here’s how it works.
Place your order at stop 51 (corner of Chapel Street and Malcolm Street, South Yarra), then board any southbound 78 tram – including the purple Taco Bell-branded one. As you hurtle towards the soon-to-open store, trust that your food is being prepared. Then, when you arrive outside – at stop 47 – your order will be delivered directly to you on the tram. Hardly your average commute.
Each standardised order will include the famous Crunchwrap Supreme (or a vegetarian alternative), tortilla chips with nacho-cheese dipping sauce, and churros with chocolate sauce. Be quick, it’s a while-stocks-last situation.
From 12pm to 3pm.
