Sylvia
A co-production between The Australian Ballet and Houston Ballet, Sylvia is full of sword-fighting heroines, dramatic love stories and Greek gods.
First adapted for the stage in Paris more than 150 years ago, this contemporary staging of Sylvia throws audiences head-first into an action-packed story of unexpected love between the namesake nymph and huntress, and a mortal man.
The choreography by Stanton Welch will see The Australian Ballet’s female dancers learn sword fighting as part of the production. Expect to be treated to a lush, flourishing score by Léo Delibes, striking sets and costumes by internationally acclaimed ballet and opera designer Jérôme Kaplan, and digital projections by artist Wendall K. Harrington.
Broadsheet is a proud media partner of the Australian Ballet.
