Cumulus Inc co-founder and Yarra Valley winemaker Jayden Ong was named one of the top 12 best young winemakers in the 2019 Young Gun of Wine Award. On Saturday January 11 and 18, he’s opening the doors to his winery at Chestnut Hill Vineyard.
You’ll be able to sample drops from all four of his labels – La Maison de Ong, the less-conventional Moonlit Forest range, single-vineyard One Block and Jayden Ong (his organically grown estate collection). Also on tasting will be Ong’s just-released Summer Bird Batch IV dry vermouth. All of the booze will also be available to take home.
The crew from Burnley cafe Lokall will be manning the grill – expect an all-day barbeque menu. There'll be grilled octopus-and-kimchi skewers, a morcilla (Spanish blood sausage) hot dog with curry mayo and onions, and spiced boneless barbeque chicken with yuzukoshu coleslaw, salad and house-made white bread.
DJ (and Embla wine buyer) Justin Howe will be on the decks on the 11th; Melbourne dance legend Pjenné will be playing on the 18th.
From 1pm to 8pm. Entry is free.
