The Substation Presents The Cell

Fri 26th May, 2017 – Sat 10th June, 2017
1 Market Street, Newport

Seldom do we associate jumping castles with works of art exploring identity, genocide and asylum. But Brook Andrew, in his latest major installation, The Cell, does just this.

Renowned for his thought-provoking work, Andrew’s latest piece – which involves you literally jumping on it – lives up to his reputation.

The Cell steers well clear of the usual jumping castle associations, creating a “quiet space for contemplation, disorientation and spectacle”.

Andrew believes through the jumping castle and other visual experiences, audiences will be able to engage with his concepts and grasp difficult, life-changing experiences of loss and hardship.
