Each year, 500 LGBTQI+ young people attend Minus18’s Queer Formal in Melbourne. For many it’s a chance to re-do their own high-school formals, taking who they want, wearing what they want and doing it their way.
The 2019 Melbourne event already happened in April, but Sydney and Adelaide are throwing their own spin offs later in the year.
In June, coffee specialist St Ali is hosting a fundraising event at its South Melbourne flagship, with the goal of giving away 200 free tickets to the Sydney iteration.
It’ll be an inclusive night of drinks and conversation, where anyone can learn about coffee and Minus18, Australia's national organisation for LGBTQI+ youth. Lucy Ward, St Ali’s green-bean procurement specialist, will be launching a rare coffee, Panama Gesha, plus $5 from each pack sold and proceeds from limited-edition pins and stickers will go to Minus18.
From 7pm. Entry is a gold-coin donation at the door.
