Melbourne’s big names of hospitality will be ditching dish duty, casting off chef’s whites, and pulling on soccer jerseys for a friendly footy fundraiser.
From 10.30am on Monday March 4, five-a-side teams from Lucas Restaurants (Chin Chin, Baby, Kong), Grossi Florentino, Vue Group (Vue de Monde), Embla, King & Godfree, Supernormal, France-Soir, Pickett and Co (Matilda, Estelle), Toorak Cellars, Atlas Dining, Tipo 00, Bar Carolina, Reserva Wine Bar, and Broadsheet Media will go head-to-head on the soccer pitch.
Each game lasts 16 minutes and funds raised go to the KIDS Foundation. The not-for-profit aims to reduce preventable injuries to children and support those who have been seriously injured or burned. Its work directly reaches more than 30,000 Australian kids each year.
The games are free to watch and there will be a raffle, and a stand taking donations on the day. “Hummuseria” Colours Kitchen, St Andrews Beach Brewery and Capi beverages will be selling food and drinks, and St Ali are handling the coffee. All will donate 100 per cent of the day’s takings to the cause.
King & Godfree rooftop bar Johnny’s Green Room, in Carlton, is hosting the afterparty. It’s open to the public and $1 from every drink sale will go to the KIDS Foundation, as well.
Sport Together runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm. The afterparty starts at 6pm.
