The Sparkling Diamond High Tea at The Westin
I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind ... that The Westin has put another spin on its popular high tea offering. This time around it’s taking cues from Moulin Rouge! the Musical showing next door at the Regent Theatre.
Sit down in the hotel lobby for the Sparkling Diamond Tea, with three tiers of treats inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 movie-musical. It’s filled with French bites such as ratatouille, coq au vin and a nicoise bun, alongside sweets like a chocolate Paris-brest (choux pastry ring) called the Bohemian and the Sparkling Diamond, a baked coconut flan with toasted frangipane crumbs.
To drink, choose from unlimited coffee and tea; an additional glass of Chandon NV Brut or rose; two hours of free-flowing Chandon NV Brut and rose; or a glass of Moet & Chandon.
Or if you’d rather enjoy small bites without the full high tea experience, Le Salon Rouge is a new menu of desserts and cocktails you can have before or after the show (or to order on its own, sans musical).
New desserts include a baked apple tart with brandy and creme anglaise, or the Green Fairy (named for Kylie Minogue’s cameo in the film) with a spiced anise mousse, absinthe pineapple and lemon curd.
For cocktails, there’s the Moulin Rouge with vanilla vodka, pomegranate liqueur and raspberry puree; Satine with Archie Rose vodka and Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz gin caviar; and Come What May, featuring absinthe, pineapple juice and elderflower syrup.
The Westin is also offering a Paint the Town Rouge package that includes A-reserve tickets to the show, an overnight stay for two and late check-out at 2pm. Spectacular, spectacular.
From 11am to 8pm. Bookings essential.
