Slava Ukraini Fundraiser at Thornbury Bowls Club
It’s been four months since war broke out in Ukraine, and fighting is still ongoing. Ukraine-based charity Help UA Surgeons is fundraising for much-needed electromagnetic medical equipment to treat people on the frontlines, and a bunch of Melbourne businesses are banding together for the cause.
Head to the Thornbury Bowls Club this weekend for a community fundraiser that includes delicious cakes and sweet treats, a sausage sizzle, Ukrainian food (such as varenyky [dumplings], and borscht [beetroot soup]), a performance by a Ukrainian musician, lawn games and more.
All Are Welcome, Mali Bakes, Yolanda Whelan, Rosemary Andrews, Mabel’s, Loafer, Baker Bleu, Wildwood Bakery, Tarts Anon, Happii Bellii and Miss Trixie Drinks Tea are all baking desserts, with funds from your purchase being donated.
Join the raffle for $10 an entry and you can win a two-night stay at Caretakers Cottage in Main Ridge on the Mornington Peninsula; vouchers to Short Round, Industry Beans, All Are Welcome and Readings; tickets from the Melbourne Theatre Company and more.
There are also two auctions (one silent, one live) where you can bid on a five-class pack from Good Vibes Yoga and a bathing pass to Sense of Self; vouchers to Alpha60 and Bul; date night at Estelle with two bottles of wine; a date night voucher for 1800 Lasagne; two tickets to Meredith Music Festival; four tickets to the AFL finals; framed art pieces, ceramics and plant pots, among many other prizes.
