Skyverse Photography Exhibition at Lupine Studio

Fri 14th February, 2025 – Sun 16th February, 2025
Lupine Studio
338 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North VIC 3068
Melbourne artist Melanie Skyers’s polychromatic artworks have already dressed the city for Midsumma Festival, but there’s more to take in at a north-side warehouse exhibition.

Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival is in full swing – and its vibrant, kaleidoscopic signage has decked out trams and billboards across the city.

Melanie Skyers is the local artist behind the festival’s visual identity (in collaboration with Craate Creatives) with her experimental photography series titled Skyverse.

Instead of using digital techniques, the hazy, dreamlike series follows an analogue approach to image-altering on 35-millimetre film, exposing negatives to natural elements like salt, water, heat, smoke and citrus. “I mix up potions on the stove,” Skyers shares in a statement. “It’s a combination of art and chemistry.”

The result is a fusion of vivid, fluid-like, mesmerising silhouettes.

Skyverse will exhibit February 14–16 at the concept gallery and warehouse art space Lupine Studio, nestled on St George’s Road in Fitzroy North.

But if it’s psychedelic love at first sight, a limited selection of Skyers’s artworks is available to purchase via her website.
