Shadowland at Jack’s Magazine
On Saturday May 1, you can wander around a disused munitions facility on the banks of the Maribyrnong River to listen to a “Secret Noise Choir” (improvised, extreme sounds) and see some experimental art – including scent and virtual reality experiences. Oh, and the space will be almost completely dark.
Shadowland takes place inside Jack’s Magazine, which was only decommissioned as an munition facility in the ’90s. The idea is to “evoke the ghosts of Footscray past” with artists exploring the themes of body, ritual and place through their chosen art forms.
The experience will include sound-art performances, video, photography and sculpture. And each session lasts for 75 minutes.
The one-day experience is part of the first Stargazed Festival, a two-week music and art event created by Footscray-based not-for-profit Stargazed.
