Julian Hills’s intimate Yarraville restaurant, Navi, is hosting a one-off sake feast.
The secluded 25-seater – where rigorous European technique meets native ingredients and Eastern philosophy – will welcome Melbourne’s Sake Mistress, Simone Maynard, on April 16.
Maynard has worked in the hospitality industry for 20 years and has been travelling regularly to Japan since 2003 (she lived in Osaka for almost a year). Her passion for sake has evolved from an early fascination with Japanese culture into a certified area of expertise.
At Navi, she'll be sharing some of sake’s rich cultural history and matching the Japanese rice wine to six specially designed courses from Hills.
From 7pm. More information here.
