Saadi x Original Chai Co High Chai

One way to get through the chill of winter? Warming cups of chai. For Original Chai Co, that means a peppery, ginger-spiked brew.

Over two days, the Queen Vic Market cafe is teaming up with Indian pop-up Saadi, soon to open a permanent restaurant in the old Sunda site, for high chai featuring fresh produce from the market.

Enjoy bottomless masala chai served with tapioca fritters topped with spring onion and coriander chutney; rice paper rolls filled with Goulburn river trout, pickled sunchokes and milagai podi; and winter green fritters with fermented chilli.

There’ll also be cucumber and thecha (spicy green chilli and peanut chutney) sandwiches and chicken seekh kathi rolls.

On the sweet side: tarts topped with apple jam and cardamom cream; choux filled with chai custard; pound cake with roasted quince and almonds; and citrus nankhatai (Indian cookies).

Tickets cost $65 per person.
