Fitzroy's Modern Times walks the line between gallery space and designer furniture store; it fosters local artistic talent while appreciating the best of European design.
The Smith Street showroom will hold its first exhibition of sculpture and design objects throughout July, Relics Today, featuring works by some of Australia's leading ceramicists, such as Melbourne’s Peta Armstrong, Tessy King, Claudia Lau, Zhu Ohmu, Ella Bendrups, and Hana Vasak of Dáša Ceramics; Sydney-based Alichia van Rhijn; and Brisbane’s Nicolette Johnson.
The collected objects span an array of practice styles, and have been chosen to offer a contemporary take on a timeless medium and examine its place in present-day living.
Relics Today opens Thursday July 12, from 6pm–8pm, and runs until July 25. On Saturday July 14, Ella Bendrups, Alichia Van Rhijn, and Claudia Lau will be in-store for an artists' panel discussion from 10am.
