Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, is a holy month when many Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. This year, Ramadan starts on the evening of Wednesday February 18, with Eid al-Fitr, a festival marking the end of Ramadan, falling on the evening of Thursday March 19.
To mark the holy month, for the first time in its 147-year history, Queen Victoria Market is hosting a Ramadan Night Market from 5pm to 10pm on Friday February 20 and Saturday February 21.
There’ll be halal-certified food vendors including Halal Fusion Taco and Indonesian comfort food stall Dapurnya Bubu. Plus, live calligraphy demonstrations, face painting for kids and retail stalls. The market will also provide dedicated spaces for prayer.
