The Port Fairy Dachshund Dash

Sun 10th June, 2018
Port Fairy Cricket Oval, Campbell Street, Port Fairy
More than 70 sausage dogs will be competing for the top-dog title.

Port Fairy's annual Dachshund Dash is back for its 12th this June long weekend.

Last year, the big race for small dogs attracted more than 2500 spectators watching on from the side lines. This year's event promises to be even bigger with the under-two and over-two categories expanding include a race for veteran doggos, eight years and up.

Race day begins at 9.15am with the Dog’s Breakfast on the Village Green, where dogs of all kinds can join their owners for a sausage sizzle and a coffee. There's also a fashion-on-the-field competition for stylish pups to show off their Sunday best.

At 10.15am, the Dog’s Parade down Sackville Street is the perfect warm up for sausage-shaped athletes.

Then at 11am the heats begin, before the three main races and the crowning of the top dogs. There'll also be food trucks, a coffee cart and even an obstacle race for dachshunds born without that competitive streak.

Race registration is $15 before June 9. More information here.
