Port Fairy Dachshund Dash
If nothing – not even a three-and-a-half-hour drive – comes between you and a dachshund, Port Fairy’s annual Dachshund Dash is for you.
One of the big attractions of the coastal town’s winter program, this year’s big event for small dogs will have an increased seating and viewing capacity. There will also be coffee and food carts on-site, for the Dog’s Breakfast, from 9am.
The dash itself has two race categories: dogs under and over two years old. But there’s also obstacle courses and the always-popular "dogs who look most like their owner" prize. Winning dogs will receive a framed A4 portrait of themselves, valued at $310 each, done by local artist Jimmi Buscombe.
The race starts at 11am, but get there at 10am for the Dogs Parade along Sackville Street for optimum dog outfit viewing.
Registration is $15 per dog.
