Pitch Music and Arts Festival
Victoria’s now-annual dance music cornucopia Pitch Music and Arts will once again host electronic music luminaries and iconic DJs in Moyston – at the base of the Grampian Ranges – this year.
American DJ Maceo Plex will perform a headline set, his first Australian show in seven years. The DJ cancelled his appearance at Pitch 2018 leaving many festivalgoers disappointed. On top of extensive single releases and remix work, Maceo Plex released his latest album, Mutant Series, in March 2019.
Joining the previously announced Russian DJ, producer and songwriter Nina Kraviz is a host of other big-name DJs and producers. There’s techno icon Richie Hawtin, daring UK DJ Ben UFO (who memorably closed Meredith Music Festival in 2016), Pitch 2018 alum the Black Madonna, live techno artist Stephan Bodzin, and beloved house and disco devotee Hunee. And there’s not one but two sets from influential techno DJ Marcel Dettmann.
Significant live sets at the festival include performances by Melbourne’s Grammy-nominated neo-soul band Hiatus Kaiyote; legendary Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance founding member Robert Hood; and alt-R’n’B act Collarbones, which last month released their excellent new album Futurity.
In response to the bushfire crisis, $5 from each ticket sold will be donated to the Country Fire Authority to provide much-needed support. It’s a significant commitment from the festival, which hosted 7000 attendees in 2019.
