A celebration of the regal red is back.

Pinot noir is a rather finicky grape; it requires a lot of care to create truly good wine from, but when done right it's exceptional. At Pinot Palooza you can celebrate all that is weird and wonderful about this tricky varietal and sample some of the best pinot noir produced in Victoria, Tasmania and New Zealand.

There are 265 different wines on the list for the Melbourne event. One to watch is Gippsland's Moondarra, winner of last year’s People’s Choice Competition.

With so much wine on offer, organisers suggest you approach the event like a music festival. Make your way to the different stages, dedicated to different "genres" of wine, to get a fuller experience. The Main Stage will host the headline big-name producers, the VIP stage the top-notch bottles, and the Fringe stage your slightly obscure reds. There will also be a stage for Emerging Talent, a Chill Out Room and a Dance Tent.

This year Bar Vermouth is being introduced: it's where you can taste the spiced fortified wine or have it in a spritz.

There's also a cracking food line-up, with snacks from Burn City Smokers, Mile End Bagels, Meatsmith, Maker & Monger, SPQR, Yarra Valley Caviar and the Hot Chicken Project.

Tickets include a crystal glass to take home and all the wine-tasting you can handle – there are no tokens to worry about running out of here.
