Dine Out: Pickleback Party at Ponyfish Island

Melbourne institution Ponyfish Island stands out as Melbourne’s only bar in the middle of the Yarra. The kitchen is open from morning to night offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, all with scenic views of the river and CBD. There’s a long cocktail list too, with several spritzes and jugs, along with plenty of wine and beer.

For Broadsheet ’s inaugural Dine Out festival, the good-times bar is throwing one hell of a party for the pickleback, aka a shot of whiskey with a pickle-brine chaser (don’t knock it till you’ve tried it). The staff will be serving the classic American whiskey and pickle juice pairing, plus tequila and gin variants. But we’re most excited for the fun that is the vodka ice luge, aka an ice sculpture with a track carved into it. You position your mouth at the bottom of the track, and let staff or friends do the rest.
