Pick Your Own Sunflowers
Last year farmers Laiken and Karl Britt opened the gates of their rural property, filled with 200,000 bright-yellow sunflowers standing to attention. This year they're back, in a nearby field, but with the same blooming sunflowers.
Look for the giant sunflower windmill – that's where the Britts' pop-up field is this weekend. You can wander the property in your own time, hand-pick as many sunflowers as you like (they're $2 each), and optimise on the photo opp.
No booking required – just rock up at the gate to pay. BYO secateurs and wear boots. Dogs are welcome. Entry is free for children under five years old.
And it's only a 10-minute drive from Ballarat – visit the Begonia Festival for an extra blooming good weekend.
