Collingwood Children’s Farm is turning 40, and to celebrate it’s hosting an all-day party with entertainment including musical acts, market stalls and workshops for all ages.
Performers include singers Emma Donovan and Jess Ribeiro, bands Cosmic Psychos and Saint Jude, and youth rap groups RYMS (Real Youth Music Studios) and LSG (Lit Savage Girls).
Meatsmith will be manning the barbeque, serving up ethically-farmed meat and hosting a butchery masterclass. Other snacks available throughout the day include mussels, Turkish street food, falafels and organic milkshakes.
Several other masterclasses will be held throughout the day too, including pie-making with Broomfields and honey-tasting and beekeeping with Barry the Beekeeper. And Kate Berry – best known for her photography and blog-turned-magazine Lunch Lady – will be reading from her first book Family, Food and Feelings.
Before you leave, pick up some fresh ingredients such as strawberries, marinated olives, charcuterie, quiche, tarts and bakery items from the farmers market stalls. All profits from the event will go back into the farm to help keep it around for another 40 years.
From 10am to 8pm.
Tickets are $45 for adults, $20 for children (5-12). Family passes for two adults and two children are $90.
