The Other Art Fair 2019
Showcasing the work of 120 emerging artists from Australia and abroad, The Other Art Fair is the perfect place to discover new talent.
The four-day fair launched in London eight years ago, with the goal of connecting relatively unknown artists to an audience eager for fresh art. This is the third edition to be held in Melbourne.
As part of the fair's Upcycle Art initiative, for $100, distinguished Australian contemporary artists will inject new life into attendees own artworks. And Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett is launching her global Tell Me How You Really Feel installation, created in conjunction with her latest album.
Plus, renowned British visual artist David Shrigley, known for his dark sense of humour, has created a limited-edition drinking cup for the occasion, and Lily Gloria will be offering intricate hand-poked tattoos on-site. Gloria has created a range of new designs exclusively for the fair that start from $100.
There's also glassblowing and paper embroidery workshops; Italian snacks from Saluministi; and beer and wine to drink.
Tickets for opening night, on Thursday May 2, are $25; and general-admission tickets are $20 pre-sale or $30 at the door.
