Open House Melbourne x Bates Smart Architecture Exhibition
In partnership with Open House Melbourne is the exhibition 165 Years of Enduring Architecture – commemorating Bates Smart’s anniversary as one of Australia’s oldest architecture, interior and urban design firms.
With a distinguished history in architectural design, Bates Smart is famous for producing iconic Melbourne buildings. Housed in its Nicholson Street gallery, the free exhibition will pay tribute to pivotal historical developments including the Melbourne Public Library, Melbourne Town Hall, the Royal Children’s Hospital, ICI House, Crown Metropol, Collins Place and Wilson Hall at the University of Melbourne.
Tim Leslie – Bates Smart studio director and president of Open House – will offer his insights into Melbourne’s decorated architectural scene and the prolific designs that are a testament to the city’s heritage and culture. While there are limited seats available for Leslie’s exclusive presentation on July 25, guests can also visit the gallery during the Open House Weekend on July 28 and 29 between 10am and 4pm.
The exhibition will be unveiled on July 25 at a special event from 6pm to 7.30pm. Entry is free, but bookings are essential.
