Nocturnal x Melbourne Fashion
At Nocturnal, visitors are afforded a rare opportunity to explore the museum’s exhibitions after dark.
This March, Melbourne Museum’s after-dark musical event Nocturnal will return. And this time it’s taking inspiration from the glittering world of fashion.
The Museum will partner with Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival for a fresh program of late-night revelry (and looks) on Friday March 1. There will be performances by the Avalanches (DJ set), Kaiit, Chela, Chunky Move and Bebé. The Avalanches are a big draw – they started doing occasional shows in 2017 after a 15-year absence.
The event will mark the launch of the museum’s Fashion Redux exhibition, which will provide a collaborative snapshot of Melbourne style and feature pieces from the Museums Victoria archives. Fashion short films will be screened throughout the evening, and there will be expert talks themed around iconic Melbourne fashion moments.
