Nocturnal: Museum After Dark at Melbourne Museum
Melbourne Museum’s monthly adults-only, after-dark event series Nocturnal returns this February, March and April, with a special program of talks, tours, music, activities and exclusive late-night access to Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition.
It kicks off for 2024 on Thursday February 8, when Nocturnal joins forces with Midsumma Festival. There’ll be expert talks on sexual diversity in the animal kingdom and the influence of LGBTQI+ fashion throughout history, as well as drag bingo with Miss Jay, protest badge and friendship bracelet-making workshops, queer scientist meet-and-greets, and disco and house tunes from local DJ JARV!S.
Start the weekend early on Thursday March 14, with a program of talks and tours exploring alternate worlds and realitites, from the distant reaches of our universe, to the subterranean cave systems beneath us, plus global rhythms and sounds from Elle Young, host of the Monday drive-time show Headhunters on PBS FM, and much more.
On Thursday April 11, Nocturnal is pulling out all the stops as it bids farewell to Titanic with one last hurrah. Dress up for a chance to win prizes, and expect a non-stop line-up of talks and tours with Museum Victoria experts, drop-in art workshops, plus an agile cross-genre set from DJ Mon Franco.
