Nocturnal at Melbourne Museum
Melbourne Museum’s adults-only, after-hours series Nocturnal returns monthly from May to December this year with immersive, themed evenings across two levels of the museum. Explore at your leisure with live music (or silent discos), food, drinks, talks and tours – from science to art to culture and beyond.
Kicking things off in May, Custom Made explores personal style and wearable art with Colombian DJ group Aprieta Collective. That’s followed by June’s interstellar Space Odyssey with Melbourne/Naarm-based DJ and regular PBS FM broadcaster Sarita. In July, the museum celebrates Naidoc Week with a special focus on First Peoples culture, including a chance to experience Bunjilaka Aboriginal Culture Centre after dark.
In August, Decoded celebrates National Science Week, while September’s Force of Nature invites visitors into a world of wonder and intrigue, where they can explore a world teeming with life. In October, Action-Reaction considers chain reactions in science and society, November’s Myths & Legends looks at legendary treasures and ancient mysteries of the planet, while final instalment All That Glitters sends off the Nocturnal series with a bang in December. Full line-ups for these events will be announced in the coming months.
At each event, you can also wander major permanent Melbourne Museum exhibitions like Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs and First Peoples, plus the upcoming Lego Star Wars: The Exhibition (which requires an additional ticket – bundles are available).
Nocturnal takes place from May to December, on Thursday's monthly. Find out more and book your tickets at museumsvictoria.com.au.
