Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival

Sat 11th December, 2021 – Sun 12th December, 2021
Price: Free–$165
The annual running event is being held over two days for the first time, with a free three-kilometre walk, five- and 10-kilometre runs, and both half and full marathons to join.

Warm weather means more pleasant runs (and fewer freezing, rainy ones). If you’ve been running consistently during lockdown and want to see how far you’ve come, or want a new fitness goal to work towards, the annual Nike Melbourne Marathon is your chance.

The summer running festival is back in December and has been split up over two days for the first time in 42 years.

On Saturday December 11 there’ll be some shorter events, including a free three-kilometre walk. There’s also a five-kilometre run and the Sri Lankan Airlines 10-kilometre run. The next day, Sunday 12, is the main event, featuring the half marathon, the wheelchair marathon and the 42-kilometre Nike Melbourne Marathon.

As always, the runs will cross some of the city’s most iconic landmarks and institutions before reaching the finish line inside the MCG. Saturday events start at Yarra Park while the marathons begin on Batman Avenue.
