Celebrate two fashion icons – Vivienne Westwood and Rei Kawakubo – as NGV Friday Nights returns with late-night art, live music and a stacked line-up of DJs.

Every Friday from December 12, 2025 to April 17, 2026, the National Gallery of Victoria keeps its doors open late for a summer-to-autumn series that swaps quiet contemplation for cocktails, DJs and avant-garde fashion. NGV Friday Nights gives visitors after-hours access to Westwood | Kawakubo, a major exhibition charting the five-decade impact of English designer Vivienne Westwood and Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo.

Across the season, the gallery transforms into a late-night playground soundtracked by some of Australia’s most exciting selectors. Expect sets from party-starters including Tanzer (December 12, 2025 and February 6, 2026), Breaking & Entering (December 19, 2025 and March 27, 2026), YO! Mafia (December 26, 2025), Claire Knight (January 2 and March 6, 2026), Danny Issues (January 16 and February 20, 2026) and festival favourite Adriana (February 27, April 3 and April 17, 2026). On January 30, a one-off collaboration with Midsumma Festival brings a high-energy DJ set from queer scene staple, DJ Enn alongside roving performances by award-winning performance artist, Bendy Ben to celebrate queer creativity.

There’ll be food and drink options available on the gallery’s ground floor, from shared plates to light snacks – all paired with curated beverages. Pop-ups include a Moet & Chandon Champagne Bar, Yering Station pours, Four Pillars gin cocktails and a Haagen-Dazs ice-cream cart for sweet relief between dance breaks.

Tickets start at $41 for NGV Members and $50 for adults. Door sales are limited, so we recommend booking ahead.
