Muji Food is coming to Australia, and the Chadstone store is celebrating with a pop-up food market featuring some Melbourne favourites.

The cult Japanese brand Muji – best known for its minimalist homewares, clothing and stationery – is bringing its coveted range of grocery food to Australia for the first time. To celebrate, the Chadstone store has invited six local food artisans to take part in pop-up food market.

The team behind Kori will be offering Japanese-inspired ice-cream flavours from yuzu to Hokkaido cheesecake. There will be imaginative cakes and pastries from Melbourne bakery Raya, convenience store-style food from Camberwell eatery Haiku, and hand-crafted chocolates from Mamé Cocoa.

It’s a chance to pick up last-minute Mother’s Day gifts from Cha Haus, a Japanese-sourced tea brand based in Melbourne, and find small-batch miso and other pantry items from Kaokao Miso.

Muji will stock its new food product range, including snacks such as wafers, crackers and crepe rolls. Shoppers can also sample a Japanese curry range available for sale later this month.

The pop-up will be open from 11am to 3pm on the lower ground level. Click here for more info.
