After kicking off on November 12, MPavilion – one of the city’s leading architecture and design events – has announced a major change to its 2020/21 season, which runs until April 5 next year.
From January 8, it’s moving into the Parkade Car Park, designed by Melbourne architect Peter McIntyre, at 34 Little Collins Street. Other MPavilion locations are in Docklands and at Melbourne Zoo and Monash University’s Clayton campus.
This year’s far-reaching program brings together more than 500 collaborators for more than 400 free public events, including talks, performances, kid-friendly activities and installations. Expect to explore Australian design and identity, with a roster of inspiring architects, designers and cultural icons.
Highlights in the new car park space include the return of BLAKitecture, a series that analyses the responsibilities we have as humans temporarily inhabiting Country; a sit-down with Australian barrister, human-rights and asylum-seeker advocate, and author Julian Burnside; and family-friendly yoga sessions geared towards kids aged between two and 11.
