Shop Mount Zero’s olives, olive oils, grains and salts, plus Market Lane coffee beans, Wild Life Bakery sourdough, miso paste and pantry staples – all plastic-free. There’s also free filter coffee, hand-crafted soaps and an olive-curing workshop.

BYO jars, bottles and bags at the ready – Mount Zero’s autumn zero-waste market is here, just in time for the beginning of the olive harvest.

The quarterly market will once again see the business’s Sunshine West warehouse filled with its full range available in bulk, including olives, extra virgin olive oils, grains, pulses and salts. Other products you can get in bulk or plastic-free include coffee beans from Market Lane (which is also offering complimentary filter coffee); low-fermented sourdough loaves and pastries by Wild Life Bakery; miso paste and shio koji from Koji & Co; hand-crafted soap by Icy Creek Soap made using Mount Zero extra virgin olive oil; and locally made produce bags inspired by Footscray.

Plus, Mount Zero general manager Rich Seymour – son of founder Neil and Jane Seymour, who started Mount Zero 30 years ago – is hosting an olive-curing workshop, where participants will learn to naturally cure olives through brine fermentation and dry salt curing. Bring your own picked olives from home, or purchase a freshly picked batch at the market.

Bringing your own glass bottles, tubs, jars, containers and pouches for filling up is encouraged. Mount Zero estimates it saves 1000 glass olive oil bottles and enough packaging for 300 kilograms of its olives and grains per market.

From 9am to 2pm.
