Lectures from international design leaders bringing plants and landscapes into the built realm.

Molongo – the design theory and practice group behind Canberra’s Nishi development and its vertical village Hotel Hotel – have co-curated a series of public lectures for Melbourne Design Week.

The lectures are in addition to its invite-only yearly symposium, and will consider the importance of incorporating nature into urban development.

Berlin-based artist and architect Marjetica Potrč will deliver the first, from 5pm to 6pm on Sunday March 17. Her public art project Of Soil and Water is a chemical-free swimming pool on an English construction site.

UK landscape designer, gardener, journalist and television presenter Dan Pearson is up next on Tuesday March 19, from 6pm to 7pm. He will discuss how his London studios’ projects attempt to strengthen sense of place. He's currently leading Molongo's first Melbourne project on Rupert Street, Collingwood.

Finally, on Sunday March 24 from 3pm to 4pm, Greek landscape architect Thomas Doxiadis will explain how his firm is driven by a deep respect for what already exists, be it nature or culture.
