Mission Chinese Food x Belles Hot Chicken

Fri 22nd November, 2019
150 Gertrude Street Fitzroy 3065
Danny Bowien, the star chef behind New York's Mission Chinese Food, will be serving his special, spicy mala-chicken sangas in Fitzroy.

Danny Bowien – the South Korean-born, Oklahoma City-raised chef that's one half of the team behind Mission Chinese Food is coming to Melbourne.

Mission Chinese Food first popped up inside Lung Shan, another Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, with its radical new-wave Sichuan cooking in 2010; now Bowien overseas two buzzy outposts in Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York.

He'll be taking over the sandwiches at Belles Hot Chicken on Gertrude Street for one night in November, serving his spicy mala-chicken (chicken stir-fried with dried chillies and Sichuan pepper) club sandwiches with cooling cabbage slaw.

Chef and owner of Belles Morgan McGlone will be on the fryers, and there'll be one-off cocktails to spice things up even more. Plus, a couple of vintage bottles from the Belles wine cellar for good measure.

From 6pm to 9pm.
