12:00pm – 5:00pm
Daine Singer Gallery
Basement 325 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

Home grown Melbourne artist Minna Gilligan creates large scale paintings, opting to use bed sheets and fabrics rather than canvas as her base for the works. Taking inspiration from the sixties and seventies, Gilligan's pieces are evocative of time splicing - a throwback to the psychedelia of decades past, with a sun drenched, yellowed palate, bringing to mind the Beach Boys song Feel Flows, from their 1971 album Surf's Up. This collection of works, which will be displayed throughout June in the Daine Singer gallery, are both eerie and tumultuous, combining the beauty of her works with a nod to those that slept on the sheets before their use as canvases.
