Midnight Spaghetti at the Hardware Club

Thu 21st October, 2021 – Fri 22nd October, 2021
11:59pm – 2:00am
Level 1 43 Hardware Lane Melbourne 3000
The Italian trattoria is opening at 11.59pm tonight for pasta and snacks upstairs and in the laneways – sit-down service, not takeaway.

Plenty of Melbourne restaurants are reopening tomorrow after lockdown lifts tonight (we’ve got a live list right here). But the Hardware Club can’t wait until then.

Chef-owner Nicola Dusi and his team are opening at 11.59pm tonight to serve spaghetti mezzanotte (midnight spaghetti) in its outdoor area along Hardware Lane. There are also seats available upstairs, but you’ll have to be quick as they’re limited.

The two spaghetti dishes available are classic aglio e olio and the restaurant’s signature assassina, with pasta cooked straight in the pan with a tomato-based sauce until it’s reduced and lightly pan-fried.

Favourites from the snack menu are also available, such as the cacio e pepe toastie, bottarga dip and amatriciana croquette. There won’t be any booze available, but you can order refreshing Italian sodas and other non-alcoholic drinks.

Just be sure to wait until the curfew lifts before leaving your home – it still applies until midnight.

Victoria is reopening, but the pandemic isn’t over. We’re entering a new phase of living with Covid-19: some of us will be going out like crazy, while others might prefer to stay at home for now. If you want to support your favourite venues and businesses, ensure you’re adhering to current health advice. The Covid-19 situation is evolving and public health requirements are still subject to change. If you have concerns about visiting businesses or public spaces, or questions about self-isolation or coronavirus testing, see the latest updates from the Victorian government.
