Melbourne’s Best Live Music Venues Team Up for a Month of Happy Mondays
Ever since Covid-19 put the brakes on 2020, there’s been a silence in Melbourne. But with the pandemic now somewhat manageable, the city is slowly turning the volume back up.
This February Arts Centre Melbourne is highlighting live music’s return with a run of Monday-night events dubbed Happy Mondays.
Held as part of Arts Centre Melbourne’s Live at the Bowl series, in partnership with Melbourne Music Week–Extended, the gigs will be a month-long collaboration between the city’s most beloved small venues. Consider it a chance to enjoy the charm of your local at one of the country’s most famous landmarks.
The series kicks off Monday 1 February with Cash Savage and The Last Drinks alongside The Meanies, in a double bill curated by The Old Bar and The Tote. A week later, The Curtin and The Gasometer invite The Murlocs and Close Counters to take centre stage.
On February 15 Bar Oussou and Colour will bring the party with the help of Yusupha Ngum & the AFFIA Band and Sui Zhen, before north-side heroes Northcote Social Club and The Evelyn Hotel bring things home with 30/70 and Private Function (the band, not the event).
Tickets start at $12 for a single balcony seat, with stall tables and private decks also available for groups of four to six. Gates open 5.30pm.
