Melbourne Women in Film Festival
For its third outing, Melbourne Women in Film Festival has announced a program of “dark delights” – this year’s theme – exploring darkness as a mode of empowerment.
The not-for-profit festival was established in 2017 to celebrate and support women filmmakers and film creatives.
This year screenings will be held at ACMI, Palace Kino and RMIT Cinema in the CBD, and Lido Cinemas, Hawthorn.
On February 22, Late Night Screaming at Kino will showcase claustrophobic horror Inner Demon, and short film Blood Sisters, about two amateurs dabbling in witchcraft. RMIT will host two shorts series, the documentary-based Stranger Than Fiction and quirkier Sinister Shorts, on February 23.
There's also features such as Melbourne director Angie Black’s ensemble drama The Five Provocations, and thriller The Second, starring starring Rachael Blake (Lantana), Susie Porter (Wentworth) and Vince Colosimo (Chopper).
