Victoria’s Pride Street Party
Smith and Gertrude streets will transform for Victoria’s Pride Street Party, a free, all-day Sunday street festival. Rounding off Midsumma Festival, Australia’s premier queer arts and culture celebration, the landmark event will bring together a diverse musical scene.
There’ll be two live music stages featuring performances from some of the country’s most established queer acts as well as young, emerging artists. Torres Strait Islander singer-songwriter Sycco is headlining the event, bringing her pop-inspired tones to the party. Also joining the lineup: disco-pop powerhouse Kira Puru, electropop act Lion and punk duo Cry Club. Catch emerging indie-rocker Rin McArdle, as well as Jxcky and Tom Nethersole in their Midsumma debut. Eighty’s all-female supergroup The Lost Girls are also set to return to the stage, as is gloriously outrageous cabaret company Yummy.
Don’t miss the Melbourne debut of First Nations artist Dylan Mooney’s artwork Still Thriving – an installation of seven large-format portraits celebrating the resilience of queer love. Plus, learn cultural stories, dance and traditional drumming at the Pacifique x FiaFia Pride Celebration. As with any good party, there’ll be plenty of food stalls and drag and comedy acts to enjoy throughout the day.
Entry is free.
From 11am to 9pm.
