Melbourne Now at the NGV
In 2013 the NGV unveiled Melbourne Now, a ground-breaking exhibition that saw the gallery feature 250 works by local artists.
Ten years later, Melbourne Now returns.
From March 24 to August 20, more than 200 Victorian artists and designers will have their work displayed at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia in Fed Square. Like the 2013 event, Melbourne Now will serve as a bold survey of Victoria’s current cultural landscape and those who are shaping it. That work spans fashion, jewellery, painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, video, virtual reality, performance, photography, printmaking, publishing, graphic design and more.
Hundreds of works will be on display, with 60 world premieres, commissioned especially by the NGV. Many artists and designers will be exhibiting at the NGV for the first time. All levels of The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia will play host to the display.
Also returning as part of the exhibition is Community Hall. Originally launched as part of the first iteration of Melbourne Now, it will return as an inclusive space for the community to gather and connect, as well as feature popular works from NGV Kids.
Entry to Melbourne Now is free and no booking is required. See more details.
