Meet the Makers at Mercedes me: The Letterettes
Once upon a time our messages weren’t written in featureless Helvetica and presented on phone, but delivered in our own idiosyncratic handwriting. The Letterettes are here to remind us.
Cheerleaders for calligraphy, this team of expert writers are appearing at a free class at Mercedes me on Collins Street this August. Forming part of the Meet the Maker series, the Letterettes’ Wanissa Somsuphangsri and Kate Pullen will deliver a demonstration on the basics of brush-pen lettering.
Presented in collaboration with The Design Files, the series features a suite of prominent creators discussing their work alongside free workshops. Guests can also enjoy all-day breakfast and coffee from in-house partners St. Ali, and activations and experiences around a suite of beautiful Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The Letterettes are in hot demand – they’ve been featured in Frankie Magazine and Collective Hub, created work for Disney, Who Gives a Crap and Mimco, and hosted workshops at the NGV. At their packed-out live shows, they create (personalised) gift cards, murals and signs.
Those who come along to their demonstration may find that they, too, have a talent for the calligraphic – or at least be convinced to pick up a pen from time to time.
While Meet the Makers at Mercedes me is a complimentary event, bookings are essential. Seats are limited, so reserve your spot.
